On March 31, 2020, the group issued a joint briefing note which set out how they would support local
authorities and child safeguarding partners to fulfill their statutory and non-statutory
requirements in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
As of October 1, 2020, the requirements and timescales will revert to those
outlined in the statutory guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children
2018, and the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel: practice guidance.
This briefing reiterates expectations for:
▪ Serious incident notifications
▪ Rapid reviews
▪ Local child safeguarding practice reviews
▪ Outstanding serious case reviews
▪ Safeguarding partner yearly reports
It also reminds you of the DfE’s child at immediate risk of harm procedures.
