The role of the governor

The 'e-Safety Governor' should work closely with the member of staff who has responsibility for e-safety. They should accept strategic responsibilities for ensuring that the range of policies and protocols identified in this document are in place and understood by all parties concerned.

The e-Safety Governor should ensure that documentation is reviewed and revisited regularly - at least annually - and address any changes and the implications that these may bring. In particular the governor should be responsible for tabling an annual checklist. This will involve a review of the school's Acceptable Use Policy and the guidelines for pupils and staff.

The e-Safety Governor will need to work together with the relevant staff to ensure that appropriate parental permissions are obtained and any significant issues addressed.

In the event of an incident, the e-Safety Governor should review all e-safety policies, procedures and systems.
