Safeguarding in Sport

As the lead strategic organisation for sport and physical activity in Staffordshire, Sport Across Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Partnership is committed to ensuring that all young people are able to participate and enjoy all forms of sport and physical activity in a safe and supportive environment.

These web pages provide information on child protection in sport training along with safeguarding resources to help clubs, coaches and other sports professionals. Finally there is a copy of the Partnerships child protection policy that provides good practice guidelines and procedures for those working with children in sport.

Online film to help sports clubs protect children from abuse

The NSPCC have launched an online film - 'Play Sport Stay Safe'.  The film is free to view on the NSPCC's Child Protection in Sport Unit website at www.thecpsu.org.uk

The film has been created for sports club staff, volunteers and parents and shows examples of how to recognise, respond to and report any concerns over the safety and well being of children involved in sport.

NSPCC EduCare Child Protection Awareness Programme

Written by the NSPCC, this EduCare programme is for anyone who comes into contact with children and their parents or carers through their involvement in sport and active leisure. It provides information on signs and indicators of abuse and what you should do if you suspect a child is being maltreated.

The programme is designed to give guidance on best practice in child protection. Each of the four learning modules has a questionnaire to test understanding and help you put your training into practice.  For further infomation go to:
