Target audience: This training is for Head teachers and Chairs of Governors who have not previously attended 'Safer Recruitment' training and are at risk of failing to meet the statutory requirements of having appropriate staff trained in this field.
An Introduction to the Role of the Designated Person for Child Protection working in an education setting
This development activity is intended for:
Staff who have recently been appointed to the role of Designated or Deputy Designated Person for Child Protection, or feel relatively inexperienced in the field of Child Protection.
The aim of the development activity is to:

Identify the key responsibilities of the Designated Person for Child Protection;

Consider education based case scenarios and the role of educational professionals in protecting children;

Give participants an understanding of how agencies work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in Staffordshire
-
Reflect upon lessons learned from Serious Case Reviews

· Identify key action points and professional development needs.

15 April 2013 @ Seabridge Centre, Newcastle
Time 9.30 - 13.00
It is essential that Level one child protection training has been undertaken prior to accessing either of these course. The Role of the Designated Person course and updates do not replace the SSCB Level 2 courses which are multi agency.
