HM Youth Offending Institute Werrington has a duty to promote and safeguard the well being of the young people in our care.  We are proactively involved in the following areas:  Child Protection (either current or historical), Independent Review of Restraint Recommendation, Violence Reduction, Anti-bullying, Suicide/Self Harm concerns, We support young people who are subject to care orders (Section 31 The Children Act 1989), and those young people who were previously accommodated (Section 20 The Children Act 1989). 

Every young person who enters our custodial establishment is regarded as a "child in need" and every attempt is made to ensure that their needs are identified and met both within the establishment and by engaging with our external partner agencies.
